Patent Special Master
Rob Rando has served as a Special Master in numerous cases since 2004.
He has received a Judicial appointment as Special Master in several different cases involving
multi-party patent infringement litigation and complex legal issues.
He has presided over Markman Claim Construction briefings and hearings and all discovery
and discovery-related disputes, conducted proceedings, heard oral argument and
rendered Orders, Opinions and Report and Recommendations in these matters.
Examples of some of the duties he has performed as a Special Master include:
Presided over a seven (7) day Markman Hearing in a computer software and hardware
patent infringement litigation involving multiple patents and presided over oral argument
on numerous discovery disputes and issued orders of varying length resolving those disputes.
Presided over a three (3) day Markman Hearing in a semiconductor manufacturing patent infringement litigation involving multiple patents and issued a comprehensive ninety-seven
(97) page report and recommendation.
Presided over a three (3) day Markman Hearing in a computer software/Internet patent infringement litigation, and issued a comprehensive one hundred forty-six (146) page
report and recommendation.
In addition to his appointment as a Special Master in patent cases, Mr. Rando has also been appointed
as a Special Master in a commercial litigation involving complex legal ethics issues.
